The Effect of Peer Group Support on Motivation to Quit Smoking Among Adolescents

Adolescents use cigarettes without considering the consequences and lack awareness about dangers of using cigarettes. Peer group support potentially motivates to quit smoking in adolescents. It can empower members by providing a role model increase motivation. This paper analyzes effect peer on motivation among was quasi-experimental research with post-test pre-test one-group design. The population In addition, there were 37 respondents purposive sampling. inclusion criteria male teenagers aged 12-16 years active smokers. independent variable support, dependent smoking. instrument assess Richmond Test. Data analysis utilized paired t-test α=0.05. There an mean value before after intervention. t-tests obtained p=0.030 (p< 0.05), indicating significant difference post-test. Thus, adolescents' conclusion, Nurses could enhance for cessation through interventions so is change behavior Further study should control larger sample size.
